Brunch Family Gathering
Brunch Family Gathering was one of my first oil paintings as I was wanting to delve more into gaining knowledge with the beauty of this medium and its qualities of viscous translucency that gives an extraordinary depth of luminosity and glow to the canvas.
The floral composition brings me comfort of the welcoming, passionate, generous, and most affectionate souls infused into the people of the Sicilian culture which was embraced by my maternal grandmother and passed down through four generations with whom I have formed deep bonds to each one.
These kindred female relationships formed in Sicily and America naturally became joyous and festive, with celebrations at each of our lovely homes—whether they were in Ohio or across the Atlantic—encompassed an overabundance of the most tantalizing food, desserts, and drink, as we indulged in all the senses while filling the elegant rooms with laughter, love, thanksgiving, and the reason for living: jubilation of life.
Blooming Night Escapade
Blooming Night Escapade is one of my most recent oil paintings depicting my life now, filled with blossomed blessings from the past which continue to bloom, many nighttime moments of reflection pondering God and being in awe of His abundant beauty of the natural world around me, and the gratitude of close familial and cultural bonds. The summer florals composition also exemplifies a midseason gathering of gratefulness while simultaneously presenting a gift to those with loving, open hearts.
As my elder generations have passed onto or are preparing for an eternal heavenly life, this current pivotal era of mine is a culmination of contemplating a nurtured history, relishing in the joys of a creative vibrancy today, and flourishing with exhilarating anticipation for tomorrow and onward.
My first handmade frame, I enjoyed making it with stucco and creating wispy curved forms and rosettes. It is additionally painted with iridescent enamel and has a lovely shimmering, lustrous look.
God’s Enlightenment
God’s Enlightenment is an oil composition on Masonite board that I painted before we adopted our son. The sudden elation of growing our family and becoming a mother to an infant again had my creative soul bursting with dazed delight and sleepless maternal bliss.
The ponderings of an artist’s heart have no beginnings and no finality—similarly to beholding the ethereal timelessness of God’s natural wonders around us: never ending mountain range vistas, infinite ocean views, divinely airbrushed skies permeating with luminescent sunrises and sunsets.
This benevolent queen of an eternal era is sailing to pristine, fertile, and untrodden Promised Lands, angelically guided on her courageous frontier quest to give her people bountiful blessings as they soon voyage to their new fruitfully abundant homeland.
Surrounded by symbolisms of heroic Godly devotion, reverence, honor and virtue, Her Majesty faithfully fixates her heavenly gaze onward, upward, and outward to the ends of the earth with valiant anticipation of immeasurable graces flowing through her to pour into the souls of her Chosen People.
